Mock Graduation Urges Hagan to Support DREAM Act <NEW>
On June 23rd at 5pm, Coalition for College Access and the Adelante Education Coalition gathered approximately 150 students from across North Carolina at Senator Kay Hagan’s Greensboro office to support the DREAM Act, legislation that would provide a pathway for citizenship for undocumented youth who have grown up in the United States and either attend college or join the military. In collaboration with the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), the rally also called on legislators to support the addition of the service component to the options of education and military. Take Action

Adelante needs your help supporting Access to Education for All students. Several bills have been introduced in the NC General Assembly that would limit access to college for immigrant students, and several have been introduced that would increase access. For more information about how to get involved go to our Action page.

New Publication: Manual for Hispanic/Latino Parents (in Spanish) This manual is for Hispanic/Latino parents to inform them about NC public school system. It includes topics such as how to register a child, parent's rights, and differences between schools in Mexico and Schools in NC. If you would like printed copies of the booklet please contact Adelante.

Traveling Exhibit Nuestras Historias, Nuestros Sueños/Our Stories, Our Dreams is documentary publication, traveling exhibit, and web-based exhibition focusing on farmworker families in the Carolinas and their dreams for the future--on their traditions, their educational aspirations, and their challenges as they try to pursue higher education.
