NCSHP Announces Winners of 2009-2010 Stay in School Video Contest

Cary, NC. January 2010. The winners of 2nd annual “Stay in School” video/public
service announcement (PSA) contest for Hispanic middle
and high school students, organized by the North Carolina Society of Hispanic
Professionals, were selected on January 21st by a selection committee.
Contest winners are:

First place: Forest Hills High School (Marshville, NC) “¡Gradúate!”

Second place: El Magetsi 4-H Club (Sanford, NC)

Third place: Monroe High School (Monroe, NC)
Muchos te han dicho.” (“Many have said to you”)

The three contest winners will receive their prizes and be publicly
acknowledged on March 26th at NC State University’s
McKimmon Center during the 2010 Hispanic Educational Summit
for middle and high school Hispanic students.

New Publication: Manual for Hispanic/Latino Parents (in Spanish) This manual is for Hispanic/Latino parents to inform them about NC public school system. It includes topics such as how to register a child, parent's rights, and differences between schools in Mexico and Schools in NC. Traveling Exhibit Nuestras Historias, Nuestros Sueños/Our Stories, Our Dreams is documentary publication, traveling exhibit, and web-based exhibition focusing on farmworker families in the Carolinas and their dreams for the future--on their traditions, their educational aspirations, and their challenges as they try to pursue higher education.
