DREAM Act Passes the House

December 9, 2010 By BRMA 1 Comment

Tonight Adleante Education Coalition members celebrated together as the DREAM Act passed in the House of Representatives. Our coalition is in the midst of our annual planning retreat and very glad to celebrate among friends.

We call upon Senators Hagan and Burr to vote for the DREAM Act in the Senate. Our students deserve their support.

Here are some reactions from Adelante members tonight:

“The contributions of these young people will benefit our entire country. They all dream of making America a greater nation.”
Graig Meyer, coordinator Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate Chapel Hill

“Our time has come. We cannot wait any longer. This impacts me, but it’s not just my dream, it’s millions of dreams.”
Diego Lopez, Student Action with Farmworkers student organizer from McDowell County

“This is a key piece of civil rights legislation for the new century.  And it comes at a time where North Carolina needs the economic contributions of all the students we educate.”
Ronald Garcia-Fogerty, community organizer with El Centro Hispano Durham

We call on all of our supporters to call Senators Hagan and Burr to request their support! 866-587-3023
