The North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals (NCSHP) is starting the ¡Gradúate! program, a dropout prevention initiative offering in-school and after-school tutoring and guidance to Hispanic high school students. We are looking for at least 20 VOLUNTEER TUTORS per County.

Tutors will support the ¡Gradúate! coaches during and after school, assisting students to achieve scholastic goals, providing homework help and college preparation, and addressing concerns, all while serving as tutors to the students.

LOCATIONS:

¨     Knightdale H.S. & Millbrook H.S. in Wake County (Wake County Public School System).

Knightdale High School – 100 Bryan Chalk Lane,  Knightdale, NC  27545

Millbrook High School –   2201 Spring Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC   27615

¨     Graham H.S. & H.M. Cummings H.S. in Alamance County (Alamance-Burlington Public Schools).

Graham High School –     903 Trollinger Rd.,  Graham,  NC  27253

WHEN (DAYS AND TIME):

Mondays to Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM – September 2011 to June 2012.
If you can volunteer for the full 2 hours will be great!  However, any amount of time is welcome as long as you are willing to commit to a regular schedule of at least one day per week.

If you would like to be a ¡Gradúate! tutor, we will work with your schedule and find a way for you to help.   If you are interested please fill out the attached Tutor/Volunteer Information Form and e-mail it to us at sandy@thencshp.org or alejandra@thencshp.org or fax it to (919) 469-1785.

PROFILE OF TUTORS:

This is a great opportunity for anyone with interest in education, advocacy, nonprofit work, the Spanish language, or Teach for America after college. Preferred volunteers will have at least basic Spanish skills and reliable transportation, and be willing to commit to a regular schedule of at least one day per week.  Volunteers are also needed for parent workshops between 6:00 and 8:30 PM, from September 2011 to November 2011.
